Centre Houamla
Every season, Centre Houamla offers a close-up look at a technique, a cultural area, or a set of recently documented objects.
This temporary exhibition brings together headdresses, necklaces and strands from the collection to question adornment as a social language: what wearing cowries, beads or metal says about a person, a ceremony, a community.
A tightly focused hang, designed to look closely at bead assembly and stringing technique, with a dedicated area on beading and weaving methods.
An exhibition-workshop devoted to ceramic-shaping techniques, with demonstrations and rarely shown pieces from storage.
A focus on the sculpted group of East African warriors and the stories of transmission it carries, presented with a complete documentary file.
