Eight families of objects, one shared gesture of civilisation. Centre Houamla brings together handmade pottery, sculpture, jewellery, musical instruments, paintings and basketry, to tell how the world's peoples have shaped their memory in matter.
Born from a collection gathered over decades of travel and encounters with artisans, Centre Houamla presents objects chosen for their gesture: the potter's wheel, the sculptor's gouge, the jeweller's thread, the musician's bow or the painter's hand. Each piece carries the trace of a hand and a place.
